1gb digital media player tge

Verified purchase: Yes Condition: Pre-owned. The Sony walkman is a beautifull machine with many features that make listening to music a pleasure in any place you go. The build in speakers deliver unbelievable sound quality for personal experience. It's light, great battery live and looks fantastic. I'm a bit sorry i didn't order two, because my daughter is certainly not sharing it with me!

Sony quality, 16 GB memory is plenty. Nice surprise - it has stereo speakers so you can listen with or without earphones included. Plenty loud and clear speakers for a palm-sized device.

Essentially has own desktop window to which you can mouse-drag disk files from Windows Explorer directories for copy to the player. Otherwise, reliable copying. Have not checked Sony site for PC software update yet. FM radio has good reception with earphones included but worse when used with built-in stereo speakers no earphones. Must be using earphone wires as external antenna. Took about 2 hours to charge battery when device first received using usb cable to pc.

I tried to use usb cable with wall plug-in usb charger but a warning message displayed on the device screen so would only charge with usb cable to pc. Although one end of cable is USB, the other is Sony-specific plug design so don't lose the cable! I will note that while using usb cable such as for charging, you cannot use the device for audio playback. Overall I am very happy with the device aside from the above as I am more technologically adept and what I listed above is probably not going to be of concern for most people.

It does a good job of sorting everything out automatically, but you can rearrange inside the Zune software. My only gripes with the unit is when I used it the very first day, songs would cutout for a split second and resume playing at regular intervals.

After I decharged the unit completely and recharged it however, the problem went away. Also, it can be kinda hard to find Podcasts and non-music related material if you have alot of music stored on the unit. All-in-all, I feel that the Zune can hold it's own against other top of the line players. If you're looking for a 30GB media player that has wireless capabilites, FM tuner, decent battery life, and an easy to use interface, then I would reccommend getting the Zune.

The zune is basically like the Ipod Video with a larger screen. So that's a plus. It has however, for it's first years always been crippled by shoddy software, however with the Zune music management not in it's 3rd version, things have finally improved to be about the same quality as itunes.

Also, this version of the zune doesn't have a click-wheel. The downside to this is you can't really control the speed you scroll at, so if you have a long list of artists it could take seconds instead of seconds Oh, another bright side: My ipod always seemed to break down every 4 months or so, my zune lasted nearly 2 years before needing a replacement.

It's very durable! First off, I have an X-Box My Zune connects to it and allows me to play music off my Zune on my which is connected to my surround sound system.

It sounds beautiful. Browsing through the Zune library takes seconds, unlike when I connect my iPod on there, which takes a minute just to load the initial artists list, then half a minute to load in sub-categories.

This boasts the faster processor inside the Zune. Another example of Zune's processor is the very minor and quick loading pause when playing long videos. I have a couple of videos on there that are about an hour long, and it loaded faster on my Zune then it did on my PC! The video was also extremely clear and the sound through my headphones wa s great. Playing videos through my wasn't so great, it was extremely pixelated, but since I'll be rarely using that feature, that doesn't bother me much.

The menus on the Zune is actually better then expected. I was expecting Microsoft to Windowize it with icons and embed the face of Windows Media Player everywhere. However the menu is straight to the point, you got your music, pictures, video, radio, community for the wi-fi access and settings.

If you geek out and let the Zune software download album art and such, it makes it look extremely nice when browsing the Album section under Artists, as each band will have a thumbnails of some album art near each album, it makes it quite pretty. I can do without the gigantic letter that periodically appears to the right of the list when browsing through the Artists list, if anything it's more of a distraction, maybe in time they will get rid of that or have a setting for it, who knows.

Pictures has the standard set up, where you browse through thumbnails and select what you want to full screen. You can even set a picture to be your background, similar to an actual PC. My wife was happy when I used our wedding picture as my background. Videos have a similar listing, with a thumbnail, name and basic info for each video you have on there. Videos actually look great for the size of the screen, making it great for travel use. I watched a couple episodes of Robot Chicken on the train and it was just as great of an experience as watching it at home, just got a few crazy looks from people after laughing.

The sound is great, you can actually hear the differences between the equalization settings. I was a bit disappointed though that you can customize the equalizer, but maybe that will be in a later update. Battery life is quite nice too, I was using a Zune, showing it off to friends and family for almost 12 hours straight with no breaks and it went down to about half.

For something that loads videos, music and connects to wi-fi? That's not bad at all. Now for the main reason why I gave this a 4 star rating instead of a 5, the software. I've never been so aggravated in my life. First off, it read a lot of my MOV files as music, not Movies.

MOV is a Quicktime video format. I don't understand how one file works in Media Player well, but not in Zune, which is basically the same program just made into an iTunes variant.

There was a couple of miscalculation errors when syncing, syncing itself can be difficult at times and the program itself takes forever to load! I hope they change it soon or some third-party support comes out soon. John G. Even if you install a codec pack, MPC-HC or BE needs to be configured before it can read those formats in the proper codec, you need to specify something like the priority and all that stuff.

It is easy to troubleshoot but of course not everyone wants to do it if other programs works. I used to use them and sometimes it was that way especially when using youtube-dl, now I use Mpv. Maybe mpv would have worked with that movie, without having to support PotPlayer which used to bundle crap in their installer but I think it was removed after complaints.

The scary part is that some people still install codec packs.. The same people probably look for adobe flash player, ad-aware and java to install on their brand new windows 11 computers. The most hardcore ones have a bunch of installers saved for a rainy day. No need for this abomination of media player when better players like vlc, pot, mpc-hc exist.

I massacred my Windows 11 install, butchered it into a bleeding redmond corpse by removing every preinstalled app etc etc.

Of course Windows Media Player and Groove Music as well, both supergarbage at what they are supposed to do. So, just for some laughs I tried this thing. Yeah right. This is just a combined skin on top of Groove and WMP disguised as a new player.

To play music there are like programs that do it better than this piece of dung, same thing with videos. Nobody needs this, and you can bet yo azz it will have more adware than actual features too. Yes it is. Look for the one with No thank you! After spending weeks updating my digital music collection with high-res album art to get rid of the super low-resolution album that WMP had saddled it with years earlier , I decided to give Groove Music player a try.

It had deleted a large chunk of the updated album art and replaced with the crappy low-res art before I realized what it was doing and pulled the plug. Never again.

Its still the same featureless garbage with a new look. There are millions of other alternatives that are far more capable. Sad how far Microsoft as a software company has fallen. Even a third grader than write a better program. I use MediaMonkey…. How do you install the old Groove Player back after you try the new media player?
