Consumer business banking accel program associate

We are hiring a Compliance Associate to join our growing team. The position is based in Minnesota or New York, but we are open to exploring remote work with outstanding candidates. For the right individual, this is a rare opportunity to help build an industry-defining company from the ground up.

Working at Unit means joining a global team on a mission to create a more equitable financial ecosystem. Accel, Sequoia are too A1 to pass up. Better money. Smaller shops promise you more upside but the probability of beating comp at a larger shop is slim. But comp ain't everything.

Lifestyle might be better. Do what you enjoy. Rising the ranks of an established spot is typically a grind. That being said, consistent performance in the VC world is very concentrated amongst the top names. A lot of newer funds can hit a few home runs from Fund I but fail to do so with Fund II once their pipeline of xyz niche industry contacts dries up. The whole Tiger Global aspect has only made the dynamic fiercer so would take a name brand VC.

Came here to say this. The earlier stage you go the more name branding matters and the more concentrated the distribution of returns are.

Given VC , would take the brand name here at this stage in OP's career. Venture is like playing "Learning: The Game" for money. It's not like you're signing up for the consistent hour plus work-weeks in buyout. You're signing up to be immersed in a pocket of people working on dragging the future forward faster. The smart move here is to join the Sequoia type firm. If you enjoy the work, it will show up as a strong network of founders who think you're helpful, operators and executives who know you and tell you about interesting things they're seeing and doing, and a whole slew of companies you have conviction in even if your fund isn't invested.

Those ingredients are the basis for you moving to a partner role. That can happen at the firm you spent time at, or at another that recruits you away. Either way, you use the better brand to hone your knowledge and network and trust me, it makes it way easier when you're trying to get your legs under you.

Then you decide whether to take the shot on the smaller, higher-performing place where you get a bigger piece of the pie.
