You were simply getting identified with fictions. Now you have touched reality — and reality is strength, power. And then slowly the other spaces will disappear and you will remain in this wordless experience without falling out of it. You can call it true meditation , the authentic experience of life.

It only looks difficult if you have not tried. Once you have tried, it is a very simple experience. So, I lost a meditation teacher over the summer and find myself fishing around for one to take his place. My good friend talks about Adyashanti quite often and left this book with me on her recent visit. This is good for anyone who meditates at any level of experience or dedication. These days I teach structure to my students because most of them are just getting started.

Adyashanti teaches people to meditate but without clinging to a structure. That is something to chew on. I agree that meditat So, I lost a meditation teacher over the summer and find myself fishing around for one to take his place.

I agree that meditation happens in a lot of different ways, but I have personally found great value in structure. To be very honest, though, my structure shifts and changes all the time. How you meditate should evolve with you. For a beginner, though, I see great value in having anchors. With time and experience, letting go of the anchors and going into open monitoring is a good route. Adyashanti teaches open monitoring at the very beginning.

My friend has been taking the open monitoring approach since I first met her a decade ago, and she and I have some very good conversations about experience as a result of our practice.
